On Sept. 24, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mount Hermon School student on campus for marijuana possession.

Acting on information provided to the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy confronted Curtis Quavis Martin, 17, when he stepped off of the school bus after it arrived at the school. Martin was in possession of several ounces of marijuana concealed in a breath mint container.

He was arrested and placed in the Washington Parish Jail charged with possession of marijuana. He was released on bond later the same day.

“While we were providing security at the school following an unconfirmed threat, we received information that Mr. Martin would be bringing marijuana to the school,” Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Our deputy performed his duty and made the arrest, preventing the distribution of the marijuana to others.”

He added, “This was a good arrest, and I commend our deputy.”
