Ricky Wayne Gill, age 51 and a resident of Bogalusa, died at 12:37 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans surrounded by his family. He was a former pile driver for Cajun Constructors and a member of Isabel Baptist Church. Ricky loved classic cars, especially his favorite Chevrolets, and enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses. He was an artistic person that often painted and did drawings. Ricky was a beloved brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Prentiss Forrest of Franklinton; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Debbie Gill of Bogalusa; a brother-in-law, David Young Jr. of Bogalusa; a niece, Felicia Forrest of Franklinton; three nephews, Ben Thomas Jr. and Eric and Rebecca Thomas, all of Bogalusa, and Bradford Forrest of Franklinton; an uncle, Donald Bedwell of Baton Rouge; four aunts, Geraldine Penton, Wanzie Talley, Rita and Ronald Mizell and Janice Lambert Bedwell, all of Bogalusa; five great-nephews, Ben “Tres” Thomas III, Beau Voisin, Elijah Thomas, Xander Dunaway and Lucas Dunaway; three great-nieces, Eden Thomas, Erica Thomas and Brenna Thomas; and a very special friend, Fred Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar Gill and Aline Bedwell Gill, and a sister, Linda Young.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and after 10 a.m. on Thursday. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Mizell officiating. Burial followed in the Spencer Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Sammy Kershaw, Chris Penton, Matt Strahan, Jonathan Jones, Ryan Miley and Jay Dupre.
The honorary pallbearer was Fred Jones.
