Samuel Gregory Genco, age 65 and a resident of Bogalusa, was born on Nov. 30, 1948, in Bogalusa and passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.

He was the retired co-owner of Genco’s Amusement and Distribution Co., a former Bogalusa Schools Superintendent, a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a past king of MCCA and the 1973 Bogalusa Outstanding Citizen of the Year.

He is survived by three brothers, Gary Genco of Metairie, La., and Stephen Genco and Bryan (Cherie) Genco, both of Bogalusa; a longtime loving friend, Diane Moran of Bogalusa; and a close family friend, Ken Jenkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sam Genco and Lena Mae Saltaformaggio Genco.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Annunciation Catholic Church from 9 a.m. to noon, with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. The Funeral Service Mass will be held at noon, with the Rev. Father Daniel Brouillette officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
