The Rev. Bobby Ray Spears Sr., 68, of the Thomas community died Saturday, May 24, at the St. Tammany Hospital in Covington.
Visitation was Tuesday at the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church at 52392 Louisiana Highway 10, Franklinton, from 3 p.m. and will continue until services there on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Jones Funeral Home of McComb is handling arrangements.
Spears was born on June 3, 1945, to the late Ander Spears and Martha Dean Spears.
He was known in the community as a longtime pastor and a very giving man. He loved his family and friends very dearly. He loved staying busy doing things outdoors, and he loved to do things for other people. He also collected baseball caps.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Herbert, Harvey, Howard, H.W. and E.T. Spears.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Todd Spears of Thomas; one son, Bobby Ray Spears Jr. and his wife Sharon of Thomas; two daughters, Amanda S. Terrell and her husband Rev. Brian Terrell of Dexter, Miss., and Shanda S. Redden of Thomas; one brother, Billy W. Spears, and his wife Vinnie Lee of Thomas; three sisters, Nellie Clair Bounds of Thomas, Brenda Herbert and her husband Jon of Denham Springs and Georgia Cantrell and her husband Don of Robert; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and special friends.
