Runners and walkers, take your mark.
It’s nearly time to put on the running shoes as the 2014 Milltown Classic 5K Road Race takes place Saturday at Cassidy Park in Bogalusa.
The event helps benefit the Rotary Club of Bogalusa.
Race director Brad Lewis said they use funds from the race for projects like scholarships and other things in the community.
“It’s a good 5K race,” Lewis said. “It’s a good route. It’s the 18th time we’re doing it.
“We have different avenues for Rotary. I think the race is a good one because it brings people to Bogalusa and gives the city publicity,” he added.
Last year, Paul Dauterive, who is a Covington High graduate, won the event for the second-straight time, finishing the 3.1 mile event in 18:25.
Participants can run it or walk it. Last year, the event produced a combined 73 runners and walkers competing.
Saturday’s event begins at 8 a.m.

The cost to participate is $15 for adults and $7 for children under 12-year old.

Trophies will be awarded in each age group and each participant receives a T-shirt.

You can register by mailing checks to P.O. Box 52, Bogalusa, La., 70427. Make checks payable to Rotary Club of Bogalusa.

You can also sign up with any Rotarian.
