EDWARDS
Mary P. Edwards, 93, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla.
Mary was a follower of Christ; a woman of strong faith and sacrificial love for friends and family. She retired with Bell South and then worked for several years for the state of Louisiana. Before residing with her son and daughter-in-law, Mary lived her entire life in the Lee’s Creek Community of Bogalusa. She lived with her son and daughter-in-law for eight years before her admission into the hospital. Mary loved her family immensely; her son, grandchildren and great-grandchild filled her heart with happiness. While living with her son and daughter-in-law, she resided for six years in Stevensville, Mont.; and then moved with them to Crawfordville, Fla. She enjoyed the opportunity to travel across the nation with her family, delighting in the beauty of nature and all things provided by our Lord and Savior. Mary, known as “Granny” to her family, was a lifelong member of Lee’s Creek Baptist Church. She was born on Jan. 30, 1921 in Bogalusa.
She is survived by her son, Larry Edwards, and daughter-in-law, Glenda S. Edwards, of Crawfordville; and her two grandsons, Bryan Edwards of Crawfordville and Matt Edwards of Tallahassee; Matt’s wife, Amy; and great-grandson, Joseph Vincent Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Williams Pounds; sisters Wilma Pounds, Ida Bertoniere and Willie B Williams; and brothers, Jay and Bruce Pounds.
A celebration of her life will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa. Visitation begins on Friday, May 23, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, May 24, beginning at 9 a.m., with services at 10 a.m. The family is privileged to have the services conducted by the Rev. Dennis Allen. Interment is at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery immediately after.
