Willie “Po Boy” Whittine, Jr., entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at the University Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Willie Whittine, Jr. was born November 07, 1951 in the state of Mississippi to the late Willie Whittine Sr. and the late Willie Mae Whittine. He was the 3rd of eight (8) children. He confessed Christ as his savior at an early age at the First Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Rev. Howard Sr. He moved to the Bethlehem Baptist Church under the Leadership of Rev. Christopher Matthew.
Education was of importance to ‘Po Boy’, he attended Central Memorial High School where he was participate in the track and football teams. He worked many years at Bo Brother Construction Company as a Cement finisher until his health failed.
Willie was preceded in death by his father, Willie Whittine Sr. and his mother, Willie Mae Whittine, a brothers, Floyd Jacobs and Maxie Whittine, and a sister, Shirley Ann Jacobs
Willie leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving and dedicated wife of over 20 years, Wyner B. Whittine, eleven years which were in matrimony. One Aunt, Christine Magee of Tylertown, MS. Three Brothers , Elmer (Maria) Jacobs of Franklinton, LA, and Luther Whittine, Johnny Whittine and one sister, Bertha Harris, all of Bogalusa, LA. Two sister-in laws, Carolyn Chapman of Louisville, KY, and Mary Evans of Hattiesburg, MS and One brother in Law, Robert (Barbara) Edwards of Hattiesburg, MS.
Two daughters, Janene Whittine and Brandy Whittine, Two Step daughters, Tiesha (Derrick) Miles and Rena (Derrick) Robertson (All of Bogalusa, LA) Five sons, Demetris (Shawn) Whittine, Nicholas Whittine, Pier Whittine, Darius Whittine of Bogalusa, and Danon (Michelle) Whittine of Baton Rouge, LA and One step Son, Antonio Peters of Bogalusa, LA.
Willie loved his 38 grandchildren and nine (9) great-grandchildren. In addition to special friends Curtis Thompson, Renard Drummond, Mr. Mrs. Faith Farrell, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ray Magee. Special Thanks to Dr. Knight at Our Lady of Angels Hospital, Bogalusa, LA. He will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved him very dearly.
The celebration of life service will be held on May 10th, 2014 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, at 01:00 p.m. Rev. Christopher Matthew, Pastors officiating the eulogy. Interment will follow at Bogalusa Cemetery. Arrangements by Cook-Richmond Funeral Home of Bogalusa.
