RILEY

Ralph J. Riley, 85, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his residence in Mt. Hermon.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1928, and was a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. He retired from dairying after 55 years, and he still enjoyed going to the Cattle Auction every Tuesday and Saturday. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Tony Vanover and Cathy and Jerry Dykes, all of Mt. Hermon; four grandchildren and spouses, Joey Dykes, Joey Tetreau and Rayne, Chris Tetreau and Betty-Catherine Phelps and Blake; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Tetreau, Faith Tetreau, Kenzie Tetreau, Dyeza Phelps, Blake Phelps Jr. and Ian Phelps; his mother, Evelyn Riley Martin of Mt. Hermon; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry Riley, Marlon and Faye Riley and Wayne and Kristy Riley, all of Mt. Hermon, Bobby Riley of Covington and Walter and Pam Riley of Enon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lynn Schilling Riley; his second wife, Helen Schoonmaker Riley; an infant daughter, Donna Faith Riley; his father, Esco Riley; his birth mother, Tincie Booty Riley; and a brother, Renon Riley.

Visitation was held Monday, April 28, at Crain Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m., and continued on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Russell Kirkland officiating. Burial followed in the Bogue Chitto Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were W.E. “Dubbie” Raborn, Walter Riley, Gary Felder, Mel Gonzales, Blake Phelps and Travis Stinson. Honorary pallbearers were Fleet Smith, Hardy Smith, Earl Forrest, Harvey Miller, Roy Smith, Leroy Miller, Paul Smith, Perry Valliant, Luther Johanningmier, Steve Rushing and David Alford.
