Betty Lou Creel Mims, 74, died at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at her home in Franklinton.

Born on Jan. 4, 1940, she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and enjoyed baking all kinds of sweet treats for her family. Betty loved to crochet and complete puzzles in her spare time. She was a loving mother and grandmother who adored her young great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Benjamin Thomas of Franklinton; a son, Michael J. Mims of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Amanda Thomas, Stephanie Magee and Ashley Bennett, all of Franklinton, and Christopher Stafford of Bogalusa; four great-grandchildren, Lauren Magee, Lynden Bennett, Nataley Bennett and Presley Stafford; a niece, Brandy Thomas; a nephew, Kendall Thomas; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Her husband, Hubert Mims; her parents, Shelby Creel and Sybil Corkern Creel; and a sister, Patricia Young, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Friday, March 28 at Crain Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Walter Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in the San Pedro Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
