Claudine Rogers Hughes, 93, born Nov. 26, 1920, in Kentwood, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Northshore Specialty Hospital in Covington.

She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa and Faith Sunday school class.

She was a retired bookkeeper, having worked 40 plus years for Lakeview Sand and Gravel Concrete Company, and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Eugene Hughes; her parents, James Monroe Rogers and Mabel White Rogers; two sisters, Mary Rogers and Myrtalee Malley; and three brothers, Alton “Snooks” Rogers, James Elby Rogers and Sidney “Tiny” Rogers.

Claudine believed in her Christian faith and her family: two sons, L. Keith Hughes of London, England, and Kevin M. Hughes of Bogalusa, and former daughter-in-law, Anna Hughes of Covington; one grandchild, Manuela Penton and husband Chad of Covington; two great-grandchildren, Hugh Penton and Sophia Penton; and her special friend, Viola Barnes.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Sunday, March 23 from 5-9 p.m.

Visitation continued in the funeral home chapel on Monday, from 11 a.m. until time for funeral services at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Greg Whaley officiating. Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.
