PATKE

Terry Lawrence Patke, 71, a resident of the Sheridan Community, born Dec. 2, 1942, died at 5 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

He was a former employee of Boh Brothers Construction and a member of the Washington Parish Democratic Executive Committee for many years, having served as chairman recently. Terry enjoyed the outdoors and animal trapping. He liked playing cards with his friends each week and was an avid golfer who spent a lot of time on the course. Terry was always a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed all the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marie Patke of Sheridan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Todd McElveen of Franklinton, Penny Patke of Sheridan and Kelli and Trice Kelley of Wichita Falls, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Lynn Patke of Sheridan; 11 grandchildren, Chance McElveen, Sydney McElveen, Rylee McElveen, Derek Dominguez, Harrison Patke, Garrett Kelley, Hailiegh Kelley, Shanna Patke, Scott Branch, Justin Branch, Jase Branch and an expected grandchild later this year; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Pamela Akins of Petal, Miss., Midgie and Billy Dunne of Norwalk, Conn. and Ginger and Allan Hamilton of Laplace; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday, March 26 from 6-9 p.m. and will continue Thursday at 9 a.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 am in the funeral home chapel, with Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery.
