Malcolm Madison “Doodle” McMillan, 89, born Sept. 14, 1924, in Angie, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton.

He was a veteran and served in the United States Navy during WWII.

He us survived by two daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” (Phillip) Varnado and Terri McMillan, both of Bogalusa; five grandchildren, Chris Varnado, Rayne Tetreau, Forrest Holcomb, Jared Holcomb and Holly Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Kassidi Varnado, Matthew Tetreau, Kaiti Varnado, Caleb Varnado, Yancey Varnado, Faith Tetreau and Preston Holcomb.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eulene Stafford McMillan; a daughter, Nancy Holcomb; a grandson, Evan Thomas; and his parents, Jesse McMillan and Fannie Marie Lott McMillan.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Sunday, March 23, from 5- 9 p.m. Visitation continued in the funeral home chapel on Monday, from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 11 a.m., with Bro. Caleb Martin and Bro. Tommy Varnado officiating. Interment followed at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church Cemetery, with Military Graveside Services by Magic City American Legion Post 24.

Active pallbearers were Michael McGehee, Bryan McGehee, Denman McMillan, Drew McMillan, Richard McMillan, Danny Joe McMillan and Alan Fortenberry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ben’s Ford Baptist Church Building Fund or BEAMS through Ben’s Ford Baptist Church.
