HOLMES

Ricky Holmes, 65, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at his home in Franklinton.

Ricky was a former self-employed electrician and the owner of Franklinton Armature Works, Inc. for more than 30 years. Ricky, who was born on Aug. 2, 1948, was an avid fisherman and loved all types of fishing. In earlier years, he enjoyed duck and bird hunting. He was truly a one-of-a-kind person who never met a stranger. He was a friend to all he met due to his personable nature and his great sense of humor. Ricky was always a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Frances Sheridan Holmes of Franklinton; a daughter, Sandra Gentry of Franklinton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Darin Holmes of Franklinton and Brent and Tera Holmes of Stateline; four grandchildren,

Jacob Holmes, Samantha Fussell, Nicholas Fussell and Brady Holmes; a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Gayle Holmes of New Iberia; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and David Reymond of Pass Christian, Miss.; and numerous aunts, nieces and nephews.

His parents, Dewitt Holmes Jr. and Lucille Everett Holmes, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19 at Crain Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Elder Yancy Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jacob Holmes, Nicholas Fussell, Brady Holmes, Michael Singleton, Robert Bankston, Paul Sheridan and Clark Holmes.
