LSMSA still accepting applications for the 2014-15 school year

It is not too late to apply to attend the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts for the 2014-15 school year. As a public school, there is no tuition and only a nominal room and board fee that can be reduced or waived. The school remains unique among the nation’s public residential schools in offering a core curriculum of study in math, science, the humanities and the creative and performing arts.

Although the priority deadline for admission has passed, general admission is still open. Admission will be awarded on an individual basis until all spots are filled.

Applying online is a simple process and may be completed at www. LSMSA.edu.

A completed application includes the student’s portion (short answers); parental permission; two teacher recommendations (one from an English instructor and one from a math instructor); one counselor recommendation; a recent (within the past calendar year) ACT with writing or SAT score; and an official campus visit.

Once all of these items have arrived in the admissions office, it usually takes two to three weeks for the administration to reach a decision.

Contact the admissions office at 318-357-2589 with any questions about the application process.
