MABON

On Saturday, March 1, 2014, an angel of the Lord appeared and whispered to Roderick Glynn Mabon, “Your suffering is over. Welcome Home.”

He was born on May 21,1960, to Dorothy Crosby and Genel Mabon. A 1978 graduate of Franklinton High School, he was employed for 20 years by Creel Brothers as an articulated off-road truck driver. He really enjoyed his work and his co-workers. He was a supporting, loving and caring father, grandfather and friend. He loved to be around family and friends. He was the best horseshoe player and taught many how to play the game. He really enjoyed life.

His parents, Dorothy Crosby and Genel Mabon, and a daughter, Tyiesha Mabon, preceded him in death.

He leaves to celebrate memories of his life a daughter, Daneeka Mabon (Matthew) Washington; his stepfather, David Crosby; three sisters, Phyllis Lewis of Gloucester, Mass., Malieka Joi Mabon and Charrisse (Dwight) Thomas of Overland, Kan.; a brother, Genel Tyrone Mabon of Milwaukee; two granddaughters, Zhanique Wilson and Zhyiah Washington; five aunts, Catherine Lee, Sandra (James) Brock, Wilda Magee, Yvonne (Lee) Henry and Virginia Lewis; three uncles, Allen Taylor, Lawrence Taylor and Tom Bell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday at Magee’s Temple in Franklinton from 1 p.m. until time for the funeral service at 3 p.m., with the Rev Cecealine Tate, officiating. Interment will follow at Greenback Cemetery in Franklinton.
