Literacy week, Feb. 10-14, has been set aside to promote literacy in Louisiana. Pre-K students, as they begin the first steps in learning how to read, are taught to recognize capital and lowercase letters and to identify the letter sounds.

The students were sent home to find all of the letters they could recognize, whether it was from magazines, cereal boxes, computer keyboards or wherever. They then cut the letters out and glued them to poster board, construction paper or foam paper.

After completing the projects, students presented them to the class.
