BYRD

Terry Lynn Byrd, 73, died peacefully at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at his home in Franklinton.

Born on May 18, 1940, he was a lifelong member of Springhill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1960. He later worked and retired from Southern Natural Gas Co. He enjoyed traveling, camping and watching his great-grandchildren play. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Debra Byrd of Franklinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Daphne and Bob Stopper of Leicester, N.C.; a sister, Camelia Wagner of Franklinton; a brother, Wayne Byrd of Walker; four grandchildren and spouses, Misty and James Bickham, Kristen and Jeff Seay, Casey Byrd and Kim Tetreau and Blake and Noel Thomas, all of Franklinton; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Creel Byrd; his parents, Virgil and Wilda Byrd; and a brother, Jerry Byrd.
