JENKINS

Nathan Jenkins, 61, a resident of Franklinton, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Pontchartrain Guest House in Covington.

Nathan was born on Jan. 10, 1953, and began his educational journey at “The Little White School House” with Ms. Bates. He joined the Washington Parish Activity Center in 1974. From the very beginning he was known for his big heart for the way he treated everyone with a big smile and a hug. He enjoyed serving his Lord.

Through the years he performed every job at the Center, from painting crafts, to packaging flatware to working on the lawn crew with Mr. Ricky Conely and the guys. In 1999, he experienced indepen¬dence like he had never known when he moved into “his” apartment. It was through this and his many years work at the Center that his bond with Ms. Elnora Martin grew into one of unconditional love. There are no words to describe the great loss of our forever friend. He was loved by so many and will continue to live within their hearts.

Nathan is survived by his sister, Jo Ann Williams of Baton Rouge; three nephews, Nelson Wiggins, Danny Lea and Roy Dale Lea; two nieces, Sandra Guillot and Brenda Alsobrooks; a special friend, Ruthie Smith; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
