Barbara Ann Alsobrooks Simmons, 75, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at her residence in Franklinton.
Born on Sept. 5, 1938, she was a member of Mt. Zion United Pentecostal Church and she loved to attend church services. She also enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Connie Jenkins of Franklinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila Mizell of Isabel, and Barbara (Terry) McCain and Paula (Elmer) Gedney, all of Franklinton; a brother, Edward Alsobrooks of Georgia; a sister, Doris McClain of Bogalusa; a half-brother, Sylvester Alsobrooks of New Jersey; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Esco Simmons; her parents, William and Viola Delaughter Alsobrooks; a brother, Lafurn Alsobrooks; a sister, Mildred Jones; three half-brothers, Oliver Alsobrooks, J.T. Alsobrooks and Ernest Alsobrooks; and a half-sister, Willie Pearl Alsobrooks.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 at Tylertown (Miss.) Cemetery, with the Rev. Leon Hickman officiating.
