Most of the January meeting of the Washington Parish Art Association involved a discussion about plans for the fourth annual art show and sale by the group. The meeting was held at the home of Jim and Christine Beatty in Mt. Hermon.

President Kaye Williams led the discussion following routine reports. The art show will be held for the second year at the large home of Sara Nelson in the Clifton community from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 22.

Nelson told members to bring artwork for the show to her home on Wednesday, March 19 between 1 and 6 p.m. The show will be professionally hung on Thursday by Cindy Nicholas of Baton Rouge.

Everyone was encouraged to personally invite their friends, relatives and others and to send invitations to clients for the show, which usually sees several hundred in attendance.

Members were asked to voluntarily furnish food, and those who can’t are asked to contribute $20 toward the cost of refreshments. Christine Beatty and Violeta Thomas are in charge of refreshments.

Those who plan to have art in the show are asked to contact Ann Warner to add their names to the list. Members should also make sure their dues have been paid for the year.

The group voted to change the March meeting date to Tuesday, March 11 instead of the usual meeting on the third Monday of the month. At the March meeting it will be decided if the group wants to change the meeting date permanently to the second Tuesday.

The March 11 meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the home of Lora Lynn Fendlason in Bogalusa. Members are asked to RSVP to the hostess by the Thursday before the meeting. This should be done before every meeting. Notices will mailed and e-mailed in plenty of time.

It was announced a quilt show is being held at the Varnado Store Museum and in April, a show will be held there for young student artists. Members were asked to provide some paintings to be shown along with that of the children. For further details, contact Terry Seal.

Warner and Gwen Thompson were co-hostesses with Beatty and provided a meal of soup, salad and bread pudding prior to the meeting.

In addition to the hostesses those attending included: Louise Barber, Frances Miller, Reba Sanspree, Jeanne Green, Rachel Gill, Peter Gard, Lora Lynn Fendlason, Anne Crawford, Janis Fisher, Lenora Frazier, Kharon Delaney, Lorraine Roshto, Violetta Thomas, Kaye Williams, Johnny Green, J.J.
