RESTER

Eugene C. Rester Sr., 86, went to be with our Lord and Savior Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1928, and was the owner/operator of Rester’s Texaco Station for 44 years. He loved the Lord and his church, and served as a dedicated deacon and adult Sunday school teacher at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Yvonne Sheridan Rester. He was the son of the late Albert and Irene Rester, and the brother of the late Brumfield, Vernon, Ralph and Bobbie Reid Crowe. He was the loving father of Joan (Buddy) Fetter, Sarah (Paul) Bourgeois and Gene Rester Jr.

He is survived by his six granddaughters, Melissa (Chris), Katherine Bourgeois, Amanda (Caleb) Milton, Julie (Aaron) Trahan, Theresa Bourgeois and Patricia (Aaron) Savant; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Pete Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
