BRELAND

Beth Ann Boyet Breland, 69, of Bogalusa, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. 

She was born in New Orleans on April 23, 1944, to John Henry and Doris Day Boyet. She was a graduate of Bogalusa High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. 

Beth loved people, especially children and young adults. For more than 30 years she devoted her life to teaching in the Bogalusa City School System. During her many years at Bogalusa High School, she enjoyed sponsoring the award-winning Bogalusa Paper Dolls. For many years she, her husband Mike, and son Matt traveled to numerous Super Bowl games with the American All Star Dance Team, participating in the pre-game shows. She looked forward to teaching swimming lessons every summer, having taught more than 25 years with Mike and her daughter, Amy.     

She loved her community and was very involved in many organizations, including Civic League, serving as president, the YWCA Board of Directors, Washington Parish Fair Association and Ingleside. She was a member of GGs Mardi Gras Club, and just last year reigned as Queen MCCA XXXIII. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, where she was a member of the sanctuary choir and hand bell choir.

Beth enjoyed traveling, working with stained glass, crocheting and spending time with friends and family more than anything. 

She is survived by her husband, Mike Breland; a daughter, Amy Breland and son-in-law, George Williams; a son, Michael Matthew Breland; a sister, Judy and brother-in-law Kurt Wamsley; mother-in-law, Elsie Adams Breland; two aunts, Lizbeth Laurell and Dixie Boyet; one uncle, Jerry Day; brother-in-law, Larry (Mary) Breland; two sisters-in-law, Pat (Charles) Rogers and Pam (Ricky) Moore; nieces and nephews, Holly (Art) Osborne, Tiffany (Mike) Jenkins, Kris Wamsley, Larry (Cindy) Breland Jr., Jeff (Pam) Breland, Marianna Breland, Allison (Eric) Dahlmanns, Kristal (Ronnie) Creel, Elesha (Paul) McCarty, Kent (Shannon) Moore and Lane Moore; special great-nieces and great-nephews, Abby, Lauren and John Robert Durham, and Eli Osborne; and many other great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her devoted cocker spaniel, Max.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Doris Day Boyet; her father-in-law, Emmett Frank Breland; and her nephew, Charles Rogers Jr.

Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 6, from 5-9 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Bogalusa. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m.
