DYKES

Cora Lee Dykes, 80, a resident of Franklinton, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was born on Jan. 12, 1934.

She leaves to cheris and Valerie (Shelton) Dykes-Slocum, both of Franklinton; four sisters, Sarah “Nett” (Ross) Harvey of Los Angeles, and Elaine Conerly, Otheal Wilson and Lillian Davis, all of Franklinton; two brothers-in-law, John Taylor of San Diego and J.L. Dykes of Hackley; two sisters-in-law, Azzie Dykes of Hackley and Emma Taylor of Franklinton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Her husband, J. Ross Dykes Jr.; her parents, Marvin and Effie Toomer; one brother Oliver Toomer; and one sister, Jerry Taylor, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 7 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton from 2-6 p.m., followed by a family hour from 6-7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Causey officiating. Interment will be held in Bethel Cemetery. Please sign the guest book at www.crainandsons.com.
