ACUNA

Audrey Renee Acuna, 87, a resident of Hattiesburg, Miss., passed away in her sleep at 8:13 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.

She was born in Bogalusa on July 3, 1926, and was a lifelong resident before moving to Hattiesburg four years ago.

If she could say anything to us today it would be that her real life has just begun. She is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her beloved husband, Alvaro Mario Acuna.

She had been a secretary for the Bogalusa Lumber Co. and Judge A.J. Jones, and also for Acuna’s Carpet Center and Christian Bookstore. Many people remember seeing her working in her yard tending her flowers. She will be sorely missed.

In addition to her husband, her parents, Joseph Edward and Clara Victoria Malley Quave; her oldest daughter, Renee Regina Acuna Sheehan; and her son, Mark Mario Acuna, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Carmen Acuna Perry of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, Melissa Perry Martin of Ovette, Miss., and Stephen Perry and Stephanie Perry of Hattiesburg; and two great-grandchildren, Mark and Nicholas Chapman of Ovette.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 3 in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until time for services at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens. Pastor Larry Lassley will officiate.
