MCELVEEN

Diaz Dewitt McElveen Jr., 93, a life-long resident of Bogalusa, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at the Post- Acute Specialty Hospital in Hammond.

Born on June 21, 1920, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and later worked at the paper mill and the chemical plant until he retired. He was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for many years, and was also an active member of the community at large.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; a sister, Eleanor (Stanley) Hickman; three daughters, Marilyn (Frank) Larmon, Rebecca “Becki” Magee and April (Scott) Toney; one son, Brad (Brenda) McElveen; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Diaz D. McElveen Sr. and Lena Sumrall McElveen; a sister, Gloria Mixon; and a brother, Ernest Ray McElveen.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 2 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m., when a memorial service will be held.
