JARRELL

Eloise Bedwell Jarrell, 77, a lifelong resident of Pine, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Riverside Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.

Born on June 11, 1936, she was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 239. Eloise was a licensed practical nurse since 1969, and retired after 30 years of service at Riverside. Even after retirement she continued on as a hospital volunteer to be with the people she cared about. She loved traveling all over the United States, even to Hawaii and Alaska, and finished just four short of visiting every continental state. Eloise enjoyed bargain shopping, especially her favorite at Hudson’s Dirt Cheap, and she also enjoyed scrapbooking.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Clinton Breland of Pine and Karen and Anthony Webre of Metairie; three grandchildren and spouse, Scott and Michelle Breland, Dustin Thomas and Kristen Thomas; two great-grandsons, James Breland and Parker Singletary; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Jarrell; her parents, Jason Bedwell and Pearl Runnels Bedwell; and a half-sister, Alice Pearl Bufkin Penton.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 19 at Crain Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with her grandson, the Rev. Scott Breland, officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Kyle Magee and the staff of Community Care Hospice, as well as all those at Riverside Medical Center for the care and support shown to them during these difficult days.
