Lisa Ann Anderson Brown, 46, loving wife, mother and daughter, departed this earthly life for eternal rest and everlasting life on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, after a brief illness. Lisa’s motto was “Always strive for excellence; and you HAVE to help people in need.”

She was born in Shreveport on Nov. 28, 1967, the only child born to the union of L.D. Anderson and Ella Walker Anderson.

At the age of 5, Lisa began her love of music and the piano. She developed into an accomplished pianist, playing for Bright Morning Star Baptist Church, Light Hill Baptist Church and other churches throughout the Shreveport community.

Lisa accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church in Shreveport. Later, she joined Light Hill Baptist Church in Shreveport, where she participated in the music ministry.

Lisa attended schools in Caddo Parish, graduating from Northwood High School in the top 10 percent of her class. She furthered her education at Dillard University in New Orleans, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology. At Dillard, she was on the National Dean’s List and was a member of the Pre-Law and the Phi Mu Kappa History honor societies. She was named an Academic All-American, received the Scholastic Achievement Award and was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She also attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and St. Louis University School of Law in St. Louis.

On June 23, 1990, she united in holy matrimony with Wade L. Brown of Angie, and to this union one son, Wade L. Brown Jr., was born. She passed on her love of music to her precious baby boy, who, because of her guidance, is now a talented vocal artist and musician. That love of music will forever be kept in his heart.

She was preceded in death by her father, L.D. Anderson; her maternal grandmother, Mary Lee Walker, who was her confidant and inspiration; and her maternal grandfather, Marion Walker Sr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted and loving husband, Wade L. Brown Sr., Esq.; her adoring son and second-best friend, Wade L. Brown Jr.; her caring and supportive mother, Ella Walker Anderson; her godmother, Nora Lee Youngblood; her mother-in-law, Clementine Morris; a sister-in-law, Julia McFarland; brothers-in-law, John Morris III and Javon Morris; nephews, Antonio and Julian McFarland; and eight aunts, two uncles and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 10 at noon in the Chapel of Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Shreveport, with the Rev. Timmie Howard, pastor of kingdom Covenant Baptist Church, officiating. The Rev. Alejandro Smith, pastor Light Hill Baptist Church, gave the Words of Comfort. Interment followed at Light Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
