Betty Jean Hammons, 79, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Resthaven Living Center, where she was a resident.

She is survived by one son, Huey (June) Stafford of Bogalusa; one brother, William R. (Betty) Stogner of Bogalusa; two sisters, Peggy Brewton of Bogalusa and Katie (Kenneth) Collins of Bogalusa; two grandchildren, Jodi (Glen) Gaude’ of Covington and Angelica Dodson of Virginia; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hammons; a son, Douglas Ray Lee; her parents W.R. and Dixie Stogner; four brothers, Tillman “Dutch” Stogner, Herbert Stogner, Roney Stogner and Huey Stogner; and two sisters, Helen Miley and Eloise Chittenden.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time for funeral services at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Chad Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery.
