OWENS

The Rev. Marvin Daulton Owens, 81, entered into rest Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Heritage Manor South in Shreveport.

Born in Slagle on June 22, 1932, Rev. Owens pastored a number of churches during his ministry, and he also founded several churches, which still exist today.

He is survived by his loving companion and supporter of his ministry for 54 years, Erma J. Owens of Ringgold; one daughter, Jeanette A. Owens of Shreveport; two grandsons, the Rev. Jarod (Laura) Needham of Minden and Capt. Jonathan (Amber) Needham of Okinawa, Japan; and six great-great grandchildren, Valarie, Erika, Keira, Remi, Jaxon and Judah Needham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Edna Owens; four brothers, Herman, Buford, Douglas and Bruce Owens; and a sister, Aline Saunier.

Honoring him as pallbearers will be Darrell Anderson, Wayne Anderson, Craig Harville, Steve Middleton, Captain Jonathan Needham and Kevin Poole.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Owens, Berkley Talley, Rick Allen, Freddy Lawrence, Chris Harville, Ronnie Comans, Rudy Basinger, Norman McGuire and the Revs. Jerry Duncan, Robert Duncan, Gussie Tynes, Stanley Thrift, Don Privett and Charles Warren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 5 from 4-8 p.m. at Kings Temple United Pentecostal Church in Shreveport. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., with his grandson, the Rev. Jarod Needham, and other minister friends officiating.

Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue.

Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Mansfield Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
