DAVIS

Sylvia Williams Davis was grandly escorted by a heavenly host of God’s angels to a place of peace and eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the age of 89, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton.

Sylvia was known for her sweet disposition and caring personality. She loved to cook and would often invite the neighboring family to get a plate from her after Sunday church services. She would always cook more than enough, making sure that everyone got a good portion and some to go. She also loved travelling to California, Florida, Texas and Atlanta to visit family, attend sporting events and enjoy the sights.

She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her legacy her twin sister, Sybil E. Pierre of Franklinton; stepchildren, Carolyn (Melvin), Joan, Jacquelyn, Adrienne, Eugene, Jeffery and Ernest; brothers-in-law, Eugene, Ernest, Freddie, Herbert and Paul Joseph; a sister-in-law, Pamela Williams; godchildren, Louis Sellers, Pamela Higgins and Ronnell Williams; and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Davis Jr., one stepchild, Marguerite Brumfield, and eight siblings: five sisters, Easter, Ena, Annie, Hazel and Vinetta, and three brothers, Willie, Henry and Edward. She is and will always be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 3 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 13146 Highway 450 in Franklinton, from 11 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Elder Hennon Garrett, pastor, and Elder Joseph Cyprian officiating. Interment will follow at Hay Hollow Cemetery.
