Ben’s Ford lost at home 71-34 on Friday to a 7-0 Trinity Episcopal team that featured a fast-paced, up-tempo offense.

The Eagles hung in through the game’s opening 11:13, but Trinity took over at the end of the first half.

The Eagles were down 23-15 before Daniel Pittman, who led the Eagles with 12 points, scored to make it 23-17. Trinity then ran off nine straight over 2:37 in the second quarter.

Dré McCoy, who tied teammate Tommy McCoy with 24 points, scored after a Trinity steal. Tommy McCoy then knocked down both ends of a 1-and-1 for a 27-17 advantage.

Trey Hall came up with a steal and hit Tommy McCoy for a dunk. Hall then split a 1-and-1 before Joseph Vinson was good for two and a 32-17 advantage.

Pittman hit a shot, got fouled, but missed the free throw, trimming the deficit to 32-19. After Dré McCoy added two more, Destin Pitman, who had six, made a free throw to bring the halftime score to 34-20.

The Eagles committed several turnovers, which led to quick buckets by the quick Trinity group.

Trinity put the game out of reach in the third quarter, outscoring Ben’s Ford 28-12 and took a 62-32 advantage to the fourth.

“At that point we were gassed,” Ben’s Ford coach Steven Wade said. “We played a game last night (Thursday) and were coming off of back-to-back games. They had two players who really killed us. They had athletic, 4.5/40 guys. Our game plan was to sprint back and stop their layups. We executed that most of the time. We just didn’t have the firepower tonight.”

Wade said starter Bryan Johnson and a bench player Aaron Taylor returned from knee injuries Thursday, and starter Peyton Robbins was playing his first game Friday since being sidelined with a broken ankle.

Starter KaDarrius Peters was playing his third game since spraining his ankle.
