The Bogalusa Country Club was the site chosen for the annual holiday fashion show presented by the Civic League on Monday, Dec. 2 at its quarterly meeting.

President JoAnne Polk welcomed members and guests, including Frances and Liz Dunaway from Dunaway’s and Chelbe Crain from Wild Blu.

Following the blessing and devotion, everyone enjoyed the meal prepared by the country club staff.

As coffee was being served after lunch, the fashion show began, with Carol Vacek modeling for Dunaway’s. She chose a comfortable, but classic three-piece mix and match outfit, with pants that look like silk but actually made of a polyester/spandex mix. The 2-inch waistband makes for a comfortable fit, and stylish flair legs are flattering to all figures.

Vacek’s black lace and knit cardigan by Blu Pepper features long sleeves and a five-button front. Underneath, she chose a white 3/4 sleeve fine jersey knit V-neck made of 100 percent ring spun cotton. And to complete her outfit, she chose a beautiful black onyx and gold necklace and earring set.

With a nod toward the sudden nip in the air, model Peggye Huddleston chose a black, mid-thigh over-sweater by Valerie Stevens. The ruffled, open front closes with a single hook and eye, making the waist seem smaller. The long sleeves add warmth as well as style.

Layered under the sweater is a spandex-blend blouse by Valerie Stevens. The cheetah animal print is sprinkled freely with small sequins, adding a bit of glamor. The boat neckline softly drapes in the front, softening the tailored contours of the sweater. The sides are shirred at the waist, again giving the illusion of a smaller waist. Adding to the comfort level are the 3/4 length sleeves.

Black, Larry Levine curvy fit tailored slacks complete the outfit. Her brushed gold bracelet and earrings are by Hannah. The bracelet, a one-piece spiral design, can also be worn as a choker necklace.

Huddleston’s entire outfit was from Bogalusa’s Stage Department Store.

The ensemble chosen by Janice Hilaire, also from Stage, is a purple, one-piece dress by R&M Richards, featuring a softly draped neckline and long sleeves, and accessorized with a hat and scarf from the Ivory Coast of Africa.

Her jewelry, all in shades of purple, is from Hannah. Completing the outfit is a black suede shoulder bag and matching sling-back shoes.

Modeling last was Kitty Baker, dressed in a soft gray dress by Urban Mango. Her black spandex leggings by Kikitiki and black boots give her outfit a jaunty youthfulness, and the 3/4-length sleeves of this 100 percent cotton dress add to its comfort.

To take her outfit from daytime to after-five wear, Baker has added silver accessories to accent the silver and black beading on her outfit.

Baker’s outfit, courtesy of Wild Blu, was chosen with the help of owner Chelbe Crain.

Following the fashion show, a drawing was held for gifts provided by Dunaway’s, Stage and Wild Blu.

And finally, to further bring in the holiday spirit, members and guests were awarded door prizes before the meeting was adjourned.
