Franklinton Junior High students, participating in the Adopt a Soldier program sponsored by the American Legion Magic City Post 24, sent care packages just before Thanksgiving to members of the Louisiana National Guard 205th Engineer Battalion, currently serving in Kuwait.

The school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes club invited BETA and Student Council to participate in the project, and students were able to prepare boxes for 25 soldiers from Washington Parish.

The boxes contained items such as snacks and toiletries. Students also wrote letters to 52 soldiers from Washington Parish. Packages were mailed Nov. 22 so soldiers will get their packages and letters in time for Christmas.
