SARTIN

On Saturday, Nov. 27, 2013, a faithful servant, Audrey Lee Sartin, transitioned from earth to reward. She peacefully slept away in the comfort of her home under the watchful eye of her family and the mercy of God, as she accepted the call that all must answer one day in the sweet by and by.

Born Nov. 1, 1936, Audrey was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. Leroy McEwen, and later pastored by the Rev. Versie Smith. The current pastor is the Rev. Dr. Tom Bailey Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Dorothy Sartin and Brenda (Dudley, Jr.), both of Bogalusa, Diane (Henry II) Moore of Shreveport, Renee Sartin of Houston and Demestric Barr of Las Vegas; six sons, Dartin Sartin of Bogalusa, Steven (Helen) Sartin of Fayetteville, N.C., Bobby (Janice) Sartin of Varnado, Byron (Lolcta) Sartin of Macon, Ga., Eric (Bridgette) Sartin of New Orleans and Ronell Sartin of Bogalusa; one sister, Anna Louise Sampson of Bogalusa; four godsons, Deano Upshaw of Louisville, Ky., David Taylor Jr. of Baton Rouge, Stanley Martin of Dallas and Donnell Pigott of Bogalusa; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, Ora Bickham, who was reared as a sister, of Bogalusa, Margaret Sartin and Emma Sibley, both of Bogalusa, Jenetter Gibson of Collins, Miss., Dorothy Gibson of California and JoAnn Gibson of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers-in-law, Lynell (Tonya) Sartin, who was reared as a brother, of Gary, Ind., Jemy (Brelane) Wells of Bogalusa, Richard (JoAnn) Wells of Hartford, Conn. and Roger (Mae) Wells of Chicago.

She had a special love for Carolina Jefferson, Patricia Peters, Elise Davis, Beverly Cotton, Glendora Buffington, Gerod Jackson, Keith Jackson and Roderick Sartin. She also had a lifetime friendship with Althea Pigott, Celia Forbes, Catherine Martin, Thelma Davis, Deacon Eugene and Deloris Perkins, Margurite Long and Ernestine Crumedy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Joseph Sartin; seven brothers, John, Eddie, Theodore, Willie, Charles, James and Jessie Gibson; and two grandchildren, Stephney and Laurlyn Sartin.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 6, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 1-5 p.m., with a family hour from 5-6 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tom Bailey Jr. officiating. Interment will be follow at Bogalusa Cemetery.
