Ardessie Harper Peters died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at her home in Bogalusa. She was born on Dec. 23, 1931.

She is survived by her loving family, including her children, Deborah Harper (Melvin) Torrence of Hattiesburg, Miss., Lydia Peters (William) Johnson of Columbia, Tenn., Harry (Gloria) Peters Jr. of Gastonia, N.C., and Linda Peters (J.T.) Jones of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Floyd Harper of Las Vegas and Charles Harper of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Wilene Gordon of Amite, Doris Harper of Bogalusa and Lois Harper of Bogalusa; one aunt, Jarutha Booth of Bassfield, Miss.; six grandchildren, Spencer Torrence, Saxton Torrence, Gregory Lane Lawrence, Jerry Richardson, Ryan Lawrence and Lauren Jones; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; seven nieces and four nephews; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Peters Sr.; a daughter, Patricia Lawrence; a son, Robert Harper; her parents, Alex Harper and Louanna Harper; two brothers, John Harper and Charlie Harper.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 6 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 2-6 p.m., with a family hour from 6-7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Sweet Beulah Baptist Church, 1408 North Roosevelt St. in Bogalusa, with the Rev. Dr. James Magee, pastor, officiating. The Rev. Danny Young will be the eulogist. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
