Luther “Luke” Harrell Stafford, 79, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at his residence in Unionville, Va.

Born in Bogalusa on Aug. 23, 1934, Harrell retired as a Master Sgt. from the United States Air Force. He was a member of Rhoadesville Baptist Church in Rhoadesville, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Beverley Joy Stafford; two sons, Darrell (Carla) Stafford and Donald “Donnie” (Audrey) Stafford; two stepsons, David (Debra) Dove and Eddie (Debbie) Dove; two stepdaughters, Karen Dove and Trish (Frank) King; a sister, Brenda (Charles) Petermann; a brother-in-law, Claude Bush; a sister-in-law, Patsy Stafford; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Davey Stafford; his parents, Floyd and Zola Mae Stafford; two brothers, Robert “Leroy” Stafford and Jackie “Jack” Stafford; and three sisters, Edna Stafford Passman, Floy Del Stafford Bush and Gloria Stafford Gill.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 29 at Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove, Va., from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday at Rhoadesville Baptist Church, with interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Unionville. The Rev Nancy Stanton McDaniel will officiate.
