Garland Morris, 95, a resident of Angie, departed this life Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at his residence.

He served in the U.S. military as a Marine in World War II. He also worked as a barber and a carpenter in the community. Garland raised livestock and was a farmer. He retired from Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill, where he was a machine operator for 30 years.

Garland was a member of Wesley Ray United Methodist Church for 85 years and supported his church faithfully.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted daughter, Alice Faye (Jesse) Lewis of Angie; one son, Terry (Mayrethe) Breland of Wiggins, Miss.; one stepdaughter, Charlotte Hunter of New Orleans; two stepsons, Rev. Percy Walker of Brookhaven, Miss. and Johnnie (Martha) Walker of Killeen, Texas; three sisters, Claretta Foster, Catherine Bradley and Magellan May, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Jimmy Mondy of Los Angeles; one granddaughter, two grandsons, three great-granddaughters, 12 great-great-grand-stepchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Eddie Morris and Iness Peters; three sisters, Rosetta Moore, Frances Fergerson and Chinica Bronso; and four brothers, Oscar Peters, Otha Peters, Ernest Peters and K.T. Martin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 2-6 p.m., followed by a family hour from 6-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie at noon, with Rev. Terrance August, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dillon Cemetery in Angie.
