GHOLAR

Alice May Gholar, 82, a resident of Bogalusa, departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Northshore Specialty Hospital in Covington.

She leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Johnnie Calvin (Gwen) Gholar of Bogalusa, Rev. James Sir Lee (Barbara) Gholar of Tylertown, Miss., Perry Donnel (Lori) Gholar of Bogalusa and Calvin Roy Gholar of Baton Rouge; five daughters, Margie Nell Harper of Bassfield, Miss., Elaine Jones of Bogalusa, Evangeline (Theron) Banks of Houston, Texas, Jacqueline Peters of Bogalusa and Patricia Gholar of Bogalusa; two sisters, Susie Latimore of Houston and Oletha Johnston of Baton Rouge; four brothers-in-law, James Charles (Annie Louise) Gholar of Prentis, Miss., Bobby Ray (Katherine) Barnes of Houston, Charles James (Gaynell) Gholar of Oakland, Calif., and Joe Lewis (Marie) Gholar of Prentiss, Miss.; 35 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Gholar Jr.; both parents, Johnnie Calvin (Elizabeth) May; two sons-in-law, Jerry Jones and Charles Peters; a granddaughter, Nicola Lowery; and a grandson, Jonans Mark Gholar.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 1 in the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 2-5 p.m., followed by a family hour from 5-7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1104 Poplas St. in Bogalusa, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Raymond Mims, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Bogalusa Cemetery.
