The Pre-K 3 Busy Bees in Mrs. Dee’s class at Annunciation Catholic School anticipated the Washington Parish Fai r for several weeks.

Using a fair theme, the students learned about the activities to be found at the fair, including Old MacDonald’s Farm, the rodeo, the midway rides, exhibits, games, stage activities, the children’s playground and all the good food that can be found at the fair.

The children participated in sorting teddy bear counters on a ferris wheel by color, scooping popcorn (packing peanuts) into popcorn bags, finding pigs and apples in corn at the sensory table, counting dots on sheep and matching to the prize number ribbon.

At the art center, the children made cotton candy using colored cotton balls, a ferris wheel, a clown and candy apples. They played bean bag toss, squirt the ducks and hoop jumping games and were awarded prizes. For snacks the children ate wiener wraps, caramel apple bites, Rice Krispy pumpkins, corn dogs, popcorn, moon pies, caramel apples and cotton candy.

In addition, fair safety was also discussed, and the children were taught to stay with their grown-up and not to let their grown-up wander off.

Parents were advised to place a tag somewhere on their child with the child’s name and the parents’ names in case the “parent gets lost.”
