BROWN

The Lord called our beloved Janice Marie Blackburn Brown home on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.

She was born on June 14, 1969, to Matthew Blackburn Jr. and Diane Blackburn of McComb, Miss. She graduated from West Potomac High School in 1987, received her associate’s degree in 2011, and was a few courses away from obtaining her bachelor’s degree in marketing. Her earlier employment history included positions in health care agencies, private security firms and banking institutions. She was most recently employed as a merchandiser at local stores, and the owner of JB Designs and Wholesale, specializing in web and graphic design and resale.

She is survived by her son, Spc. E4 Matthew Leroy Blackburn, stationed in Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, India Blackburn; a grandson, Avery James Blackburn; her father, Matthew Blackburn Jr., and her mother, Diane Blackburn, both of McComb; one sister, Lora A. Blackburn of Woodbridge, Va.; one niece, Brittany D. Blackburn of Woodbridge; one great nephew, Anthony Giovani Blackburn; seven uncles, the Rev. Edward E. (Josie) Butler of Mt. Hermon, the Rev. George E. (Joe Nell) Butler of Kentwood and Charlie E. Butler of Magnolia, Miss.; two aunts, Rose E. Haire (Brian) of Woodbridge and Shirley Tobias of Magnolia, Miss.; and a host of cousins and friends.

A private service will be held.
