WINBURN

Orville “O.C.” Winburn, 80, a native of Bogalusa and longtime resident of Ponchatoula, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at North Oaks Medical Center.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In his early years, O.C. enjoyed playing football and baseball, and later served our country in the United States Navy and National Guard. He retired from Goodyear Tire Company after 28 years of service, and loved spending time outdoors, fishing, and reading the sports section of the newspaper. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Barbara Alford Winburn; three sons and daughters-in-law, Cliff and Brenda Winburn, Mike and Kay Winburn and Chris and Jennifer Winburn; eight grandchildren, April, Kristina, Cory, Hannah, Cade, Jennifer, Steven and Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Dawson, Brianna and Bethany; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Charles Sharp and Cheryle and Billy Barber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia Moffett Winburn and Orville “Jiggers” Wert Winburn, and sister, Joy Winburn Lavinghouse.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, Pastor Lester May officiating. Interment will follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa.
