Franklinton’s defense stepped up big time Saturday night, limiting Brother Martin to just three first downs in the opening half and forcing four turnovers in a 29-0 victory at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans.

Pierre Wilson intercepted two passes for Franklinton and Josh Magee picked off one. Martavius James recovered a fumble with Brother Martin (2-1) facing first-and-goal from the 3.

Charmal Magee sacked Crusaders quarterback Jake Broggi in the Brother Martin end zone, forced him to fumble, and the ball rolled out of the back for a safety.

Franklinton quarterback Ron Robinson threw two touchdown passes, connecting with Daryl Fortenberry and Donovan Alonzo once each. Robinson also ran for a 10 yard TD. Renaz Wilson had the Demons’ final tally, scoring from the 2.

The Demons (2-1) led 6-0 at halftime, but outscored Brother Martin 23-0 during the second half.

The Crusaders drove to Franklinton’s 10 near the game’s end, but Franklinton’s defense forced four consecutive incompletions to preserve the shutout.

Both of Franklinton’s wins this season are shutouts.

The Demons return home Friday to face Bogalusa.
