Southeast Louisiana School for the Performing Arts has announced open registration for children and young adults ages 6-18 for the fall semester classes beginning next week. Classes will be held at the YMCA on Avenue B in Bogalusa.

In the spring, SLSPA students will perform in a production of  Frances Hodgson Burnett’s “A Little Princess,” and they will have other opportunities not yet to determined.

SLSPA director and instructor Robyn Sprehe began her acting career, she said, in her room at the age of 3, by tapping into her imagination and creativity. She did her first play, “The Pied Piper of Hamelin,” in the eighth grade in conjunction with the Franklinton Community Theatre.

From there she went on to perform and star in 14 plays, working with the Pike County Little Theatre, Franklinton Community Theatre, Youth Arts Council of America and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she attended college on a full theater scholarship. She graduated with a minor in theater.

Sprehe is represented by Landrum Arts, one of the top talent agencies in Louisiana. She has studied under Lance Nichols, who has worked with the television show “Treme,” with casting director Linda Phillips-Palo, Dr. Lorrie Hull and Veleka Gray, to name a few.

She is a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild and the American Federation of Radio,Television and Film Artists. She also is a member of the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association through her association with Celtic Studios in Baton Rouge.

Sprehe has been a location scout and production designer and has cast extras for SAG shorts “Madchen” and “Holding His Rabbits.”

In addition, she has worked as a stand-in, actress, writer and producer and is familiar with all aspects of the entertainment industry.

Sprehe was named AFTRA Member of The Year in 2011 for her organizing efforts for the Louisiana Film Industry. She also was given the opportunity to have an article published in AFTRA Magazine about Disney’s “The Imagination Movers.”

In addition to her film work, Sprehe has written, directed and performed in three plays at Mile Branch Settlement in Franklinton: “A Very Pioneer Christmas,” “Forty Going North” and “Good Friday.”
