GRAHAM

Alan Brent Graham, 60, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Riverside Medical Center.

He was born on July 14, 1953, and was a lifelong member of Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church, where he was the treasurer and at one time a Sunday school teacher. Along with his wife, he was the leader of the Wednesday night youth and children’s program.

Alan graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1971 and later from Nicholls State University. He also received his Masters + 30 from Southeastern Louisiana University.

He was a longtime employee of the Washington Parish School System, first as a special education teacher, then as principal of Mt. Hermon School and later as the special education coordinator. He served the longest, however, as the pupil appraisal coordinator for the parish system. He later retired as the special education supervisor of St. Helena Parish.

He enjoyed traveling and loved nature and spending time outdoors feeding birds or trail walking. He most loved visiting with and entertaining his family and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rosemary Listi Graham of Mt. Hermon; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jason Phillips of Mt. Hermon; two sons and a daughter-ion-law, Brent and June Graham of Franklinton and Ryan Graham of The Woodlands, Texas; three grandchildren, Cade Phillips, Jaden Phillips and Newman Graham; his mother, Novie James Graham of Mt. Hermon; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jill Gasquet of Walker, Jeanie and Skip Neil of Lafayette and Janet and Barry Tisdale of Brandon, Miss.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Vince Listi and Renan and Maira Listi, all of California, and Julaine and Jerry Bortz of The Woodlands; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His father, Hubert Graham, and a brother-in-law, Henry Gasquet, preceded him in death.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Crain Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. and continued on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Brent King, Bro. Donnie Broome and Bro. Joseph Ladner officiating. Burial followed in Camp Grand Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Bortz, Brett Bortz, Renan Listi, Andrew Tisdale, Howard Gauthreaux, Trevor Gauthreaux, Carley King and Bradley Crain. Honorary pallbearers were Skip Neil, Barry Tisdale, Scott Moak, Alvin Graham, James Bankston, Danny Bond, Wilvie Cox, Kinell Cox, Butch Robertson and Gary Newman.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Mission Fund of Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church.
