KEYS

Rev. Mary Ann Keys, who was born on March 14, 1940, departed this life Aug. 22, 2013, at her home in Bogalusa.

She was a member of the Central Memorial High School graduating class of 1958 and attended one year of theological seminary school. She worked for the Bogalusa School System for 33 years, retiring on May 24, 2013.

Rev. Keys was a woman of the call. She was a lifelong member of Greater Salter Chapel AME Church, holding many positions, including associate pastor, president of the educational congress, a member of Women in Ministry, stewardess, missionary, Sunday school teacher, class leader, Bible study teacher and choir member.

She loved her children and was so proud to be a wonderful grandmother. She loved to read the Bible, watch spirituals on television and would pray for anyone in need. She was very caring and would give anyone her last dollar. She was very dedicated, loved working for the Lord and was always about her Father’s business.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Linzey R. Keys and James R. Keys, both of New Orleans, Fannie (Robert) Magee of Bogalusa and Joyce Keys of Baton Rouge; six sisters, Rev. Dr. Jenny (Mack) Curry of New Orleans, Vivian (Andrew) Alexander of Milwaukee, Wis., and Gloria (John) Neal, Linda A. Washington, Ethel Mae Morris, Darlene Lewis and Juanita Warren, all of Bogalusa; three brothers, Robert Lewis, Cecil Lewis and Jeffrey Lewis, all of Bogalusa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 30 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 3-6 p.m., with the funeral service to be held on Saturday at Greater Salter Chapel AME Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
