HILL

John Harmon Hill, 67, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. Born May 6, 1946, he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who was deployed in Vietnam for four years. His two tours in Vietnam were served on swift boats and he was a member of the Swift Boats Sailors Association. He also was a member of the NRA and American Legion Magic City Post 24. He worked 27 years as a diesel and hydraulic instructor at Northshore Technical Community College. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, and most of all loving his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Giordano Hill of Bogalusa; two sons, Casey (Crystal) Hill of Bogalusa and Jason (Amy) Hill of Sun; two brothers, Jimmie Hill of Bogalusa and Clyde Ray Hill of Hammond; and his grandchildren, Trilby, Koen and Southern Hill, and Lilli Hill who is expected in December.

His parents, Isaiah and Clovis Hill, and four brothers, Thomas, Prentiss, Charles and Bennie Hill, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 15 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Pete Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Magic City Post 24.

Active pallbearers will be Acy Hartfield, Lane Birtel, Buddy Jenkins, Roy Wells, Joe Dillon, Richard Cothern, Bennie Schillings and Odie Hughes.
