SMITH

Thomas P. Smith arrived in this world on June 19,1930, in Bogalusa, and on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at the age of 83, he was called by God to come to his heavenly mansion. Thomas was a man with lots of integrity and a giant, loving and caring heart.

As a young man of 15, while living with his stepmother, Mattie Quinn, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and later the Vietnam War.

Thomas leaves three daughters to cherish her memories, Lonnie Smith of Atlanta, Sherry Smith of Bogalusa and Shirley Wallace of Los Angeles; one son, Thomas Smith of New Orleans; three sisters, Juanita Jackson of Tacoma, Wash., Geneva Gray of Bogalusa and Ellerene Cooper of Atlanta; one brother, Robert Smith of North Carolina; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Mae Smith; his parents, Willie Mae Hicks and Ernest Smith; his stepmother, Mattie Quinn; his brother, Raymond Smith; and his daughter, Regina Smith.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 9 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m., with a family hour from 6-7 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Nat Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
