VARNADO

Thadia Hunt Varnado, 76, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home in Bogalusa.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Berta (Chris) Williams of Tulsa, Okla.; three sons, Willie Douglas (Ruby) Hunt and Donnie Hunt, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Timothy Hunt of Bogalusa; three stepdaughters, Delores Varnado and Bobbie Beck, of Bogalusa, and Nercille Jefferson of Angie; four stepsons, Emile Varnado, Larmar Varnado and Larry Varnado, all of Bogalusa, and Donald Ray Varnado of Angie; one brother-in-law, Raliegh Lucas of Bogalusa; 28 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; special nieces Sandra Lusk and Della Cooper, both of Bogalusa, and Novella Cooper of Houston; a special daughter-in-law, Rose Hunt of Bogalusa; and numerous nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Hunt and Magalene Cryer; her stepfather, Frank Cryer; her husband, Luke Varnado; a son, Leander Hunt; two sisters, Berta Hilliard and Pollie Cooper; a stepsister, Helen Lucas; and a special friend, Marjorie Jefferson.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 3-6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The funeral service will be Wednesday at noon at Sweet Beulah Baptist Church in Bogalusa, with the Rev. James Magee, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
