Elizabeth T. Thomas, 93, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home in Thomas. Born Jan. 7, 1920, she was the oldest person living in the Thomas Community and was the oldest grandchild of the late Simon S. Thomas, the founder of Thomas. She was a lifelong member of Thomas First Baptist Church and a homemaker who had retired from working in the cafeteria of Thomas School.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Nick) Smith of Thomas; two sons, Harold (Betty) Thomas of Thomas and Randy (Jackie) Thomas of Clifton; a daughter-in-law, Helen Thomas; nine grandchildren and spouses, Grant Thomas, Jeff and Yolanda Thomas, Tim and Angela Thomas, Monica and Bradley Barber, Ramona Thomas, Clay and Kensy Thomas, Cole and Patricia Thomas, Shelley Thomas and Emily and Wes Stewart; nine great-grandchildren, Haylee Thomas, Trent Thomas, Lana Thomas, Dallas Reid, Laura Thomas, Samuel Thomas, Isaac Barber, Zachary Thomas and Isabella Barber; four sisters, Isabel Hayman, Ada Merle Menish, Ladonia Hill and Janette (Tommy) Ahlman; three brothers, Dewey (Frankie) Thomas, Phillip Ray (Shirley) Thomas and Douglas Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth B. Thomas, Mabel Thomas and Wanda Nell Thomas; a brother-in-law, J.S. Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. Thomas; a son, Horace Thomas; her parents, Comodore Thomas and Marie Ard Thomas; a sister, Waver Jordan; and a brother, Simon Thomas.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 1 at Crain Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Denny Brumfield and the Rev. Tony Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tim Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Clay Thomas, Cole Thomas, Bradley Barber, Trent Thomas, and Wes Stewart.
