STOGNER

Franklinton resident Lucy Jane Cooper Stogner, 73, died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington.

Born Feb. 19, 1940, she was a volunteer at the Council on Aging’s Pine Mill Site, where she was affectionately known as “Sarge.” She enjoyed quilting and doing puzzles. She especially loved following her kids in baseball and was an avid sports fan.

She is survived by two sons, Kendall (Lora) Stogner and Richard (Belinda) Stogner, both of Franklinton; one grandson, Blake Stogner; two granddaughters, Deanne (Brandon) Minarik and Adrian (Bria) O’Bryant; two great-grandsons, Braisyn O’Bryant and Wyatt Minairk; and expected granddaughter, Madeline Kate Minarik; two sisters, Maxie Gerald of Franklinton and Nell Stogner of Arkansas; and a brother, Billy Ray Cooper of Brookhaven, Miss.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie J. Stogner; her parents, Jordan and Olivia Crain Cooper; a sister and brother, Dot and Clifford Gerald; a sister, Margie Sonier; a brother, Charlie Cooper; brothers-in-law, Steve Stogner, Charles Stogner, James Stogner and John Stogner; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Knight and Lucille Creel.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 18 at Crain Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m., and will continue on Friday from 11 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Acy’s Creek Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Counsel on Aging Pine Mill Site.
